Bear Hug™ from REED is a modular squeeze tool system for PE using hydraulic cylinders for an industry-leading 83,400 pounds of squeeze force.

PES8BT base tool includes stops for 3 to 8 inch PE pipe in common DR sizes for North America pipe sizes. Plus, SDR 9 size is new for REED on PES8BT.

REED recommends two-person operation.   

For safety, there is a choice of two grounding rod installation spots.

• Base squeeze tool of the REED Bear Hug™ Squeeze Tool System.
• Requires either a manual hydraulic or air-over-hydraulic pump for operation.   
• Based on job needs, choose from an air-over hydraulic pump PESAPA (#04330) or manual hand pump PESMPA (#04329) to add to your PES8BT base tool.
• Includes two sets of color-coded stops for North America (imperial) pipe sizes.
• Color-coded stops increase visibility of stop sizes and help operator quickly confirm that stops are set properly, thus reducing user error.
• Double bar design for squeeze confidence and less residual impact on the pipe.
• The double-acting system is designed to squeeze and release with hydraulic pump. No more reliance on internal springs for retraction since those spring systems are more prone to wear over time. 
• Massive 83,400 lb. squeeze force.
• Saddle bolts can be hand-threaded to mechanically lock the tool in the squeeze position.
• Saddle clamps are mounted right to the unit for operator convenience.
• Weight: 175 lbs.  REED'S design is almost 100 pounds (45 kg) less than competitive model.

Air-over-Hydraulic Pump for use with REED PES8BT

• Air-over-hydraulic pump for use with REED PES8BT Bear Hug™ Squeeze Tool System.
• Pneumatic powered hydraulic pump used to raise and lower the squeeze bars.
• Uses foot pedal control for operator convenience and minimal effort.
• Includes Flow Control Valve for fine squeeze and release speeds.
• Operator to supply applicable air compressor with 20 CFM air flow at 100 psi minimum.
• 12-ft hose allows pump to be placed out of the ditch at ground level.
•  ¼” NPT air inlet thread connects air compressor and pump.
• REED recommends use of the PESFRLA filter-regulator-lubricator with the PESAPA pump.

2-stage Hand Pump for use with REED PES8BT

• Manual hydraulic pump for use with REED PES8BT Bear Hug™ Squeeze Tool System.  (Base tool sold separately)
• Manual arm is used to raise and lower the squeeze bars.
• 12-ft hose allows pump to be placed out of the ditch at ground level.
• With this portable power source, an extra power source is not needed.
